Story of all women today. It is so brilliantly made! The movie clearly shows the “rape” culture, and why it is a huge problem that needs to be solved? Women wearing short clothes, goes out at night, drinks, smiles etc. is considered a woman of no character, and that she’s asking for it, while it is ok for a man to just touch her without any consent? Also if a women admits to being molested, people question her character, and say that she is a liar, and she wants attention, and men, especially rich men, who have a lot of money, easily get away with a crime, isn’t this a problem that exists today?
The dialogues in the movie were amazing. There is one dialogue said by Amitabh Bachchan in the movie, “A woman’s no means no, be it a sex worker, a casual acquaintance or even a wife,” which was so powerful that would be ringing in my ear for a long time. I am sure this dialogue will ring on everyone’s else’s ear. The cinematography and screenplay were too good.
While Amitabh Bachchan nailed the role of a lawyer with health issues, it was Taapsee, Kirti and Andrea who stole the show with their powerful acting. Other actors like Angad Bedi, Piyush Mishra and Dhritiman Chatterjee also did a good job. Superb direction by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. Shoojit Sircar is one of the finest filmmakers we have, and he proved it again, by making this film. Even the music was good. “Kaari Kaari” is still stuck on my head. I also loved the background music, as well as the poetry recited by Amitabh Bachchan in the end credits.
Everyone should watch this movie! Everyone should understand the seriousness of the “rape” culture and we hope to solve it!
My Rating:- 4/5
